The generators auto off function works on the same principles as a PPM meter. Neither measures PPM. Both measure conductivity and that can come from any conductive ionic substance.

Typically, it comes out to around 10 PPM and that number is about the same as the conductivity number even though shut down happens at around 20 Microsiemens of conductivity...IOW, the number drops after shutdown and is only valid after it has stopped dropping. But that means that it is possible to re-run that batch to shutdown again and again, each time halving the drop, until the generator won't run after it has stopped dropping...and at that point you will have around 20 PPM silver

I have heard that it depends on the quality of your distilled water.

The conductivity of contaminated water adds itself into to the total that a meter or the gen measures at shutdown....so only part of the total is silver

Is not distilled water distilled water?

No two jugs are the same except by accident and the same jug doesn't stay that way as it absorbs carbon dioxide from the air.

How do i know what is good distilled water and what is not?

Check it with a meter or use the generator as an eyeball meter [read the instructions or email me privately for a new copy] That will tell you basically *how much*, but not *what* is in the water..*what* can be, but usually isn't important.

Does distilled water have a shelf life?

depends on how it's stored.

In general what ppm range can I expect.

9-12 PPM "Plug n' Play "..or any you dare once you know how to get it and tell what it is.

Also, I store the CS in bottles identical to those brown hydrogen peroxide bottles. Is that OK and what is the shelf life of colloidal silver?

I use colorless glass and have stored it on a sunny windowsill..for years and years. Never found it HAD a shelf life if kept well sealed away from air borne contamination absorption and air itself.
