If you are going to go this route, you can save roughly $170 by going to Radio Shack, buying a two AA battery holder (270-408), a 4.7K resistor (2160255), 2 AA batteries, and some clip leads (278-1157). You will have to get two 5 inch 0.999 #12 pure silver wire electrodes on line - there are several sources. Using the clip leads, connect one battery holder wire to the top of one silver electrode. With another clip lead, connect the other battery holder wire to the resistor (or just solder the wire to the resistor). With a third clip lead, connect the other resistor wire to the top of the other silver electrode. Use two clothes pins, clip the silver electrodes on either side of a wide mouth quart jar. Fill with steam distilled water to a level just below the clips and let it sit for a day or two. No stirring is needed. You can follow the directions on the Meissnerresearch site.
If you don't mind spending the $200, then get a constant current polarity reversing automatic shutoff unit as recommended by the other posts.
