My daughter also used to play ball and would have terrible sunburns in
spite of suntan lotion (sweating it off, I reckon).  I always used a new
teabag, moistened in a little warm water .. applied several times all over
the burned area over a few hours.  The tannic acid in the tea seems to take
out the 'heat' and helps prevent burning.

You just squeeze the 'juice' out of the teabag over the burns and dab
lightly and let air dry.  Then remoisten the tea bag (I used to just leave
it in a saucer) and squeeze again.  Just keep repeating.  It is amazing how
at first you can feel the heat and then the heat just goes away.       Lola
