Hi Dave, first things I can think of are the EO>; lavender/spike, rosemary, eucalyptus, blend equal parts, neat, no carrier, directly massaged into that area. Also, take in water, drops of Golden Seal root extract for the bacterial infection issue. Maybe he could try some Oil of Oregano by mouth, drops into some thick good tasting fruit juice knock it back quickly and it's tolerable, my old grandmothers technique.
The coils and rods that Bernie and David Lowrance are researching seems to have a very beneficial effect as well. Good luck and keep us uptodate on this. I know there is easy help for these issues.
