Do The "Water Test" in the instructions
Home distilled water is iffy and home distillers need maintenance like
any other.
Try some store bought DW and compare?

Hi Ode,
Recently, my Silver Puppy has been turning off early. I have it with the
'ears' angled out as always, and it cycles through red and green as it
always does, but it stops early. The electrodes are always cleaned after
each batch; I make sure they're parallel to each other, I use my own
distilled water, and can only think that perhaps some sort of plating has
happened to the glass I do this in. (Same glass, 1qt, for a couple years)
Once before, it got a metallic luster to it, so I soaked it in Efferdent
which is great for cleaning antique bottles. I even cleaned out the little
tube that holds the magnetic stirrer. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
What do you recommend for cleaning the glass?
Thanks for your help.
Be well,
Léna

The red/green shift is to show that the direction of the current has

If you only look at it now and then, the odds are 50/50 that you will see
the same color.
It has NOTHING to do with PPM.
When the LED turns OFF, the batch is done.
A gallon might take 24 hours...or more.

Hi Ken,
Just want to ask, i own a silver puppy, when i set a gallon of distilled
water to brew, its light turns green. After around four + hours it
turns red, when i check the ppm it is only 3.5ppm (water before brewing
is 1.5ppm). So in all that time i only made 2ppm? Then i shut it off,
and when i restart it, it turns green again. The setting is always at
manual-auto. Is this a normal occurence in brewing one gallon? How
long should a one gallon normally brew?
BTW, the electrodes are super clean and so with the jar and round
plastic for distance.
Thanks.
