You can purchase Artemisinin from Vitacost or www.betterhealthinternational. Nutricology is an excellent brand name (they lab test all their products). The usual dosage is about 200 - 300 mgs 3 times per day. I have taken it with food, some say not to but.. artemisinin should be taken with a little fat (yogurt is just fine).
The effect of the Artemisinin is diminished with continued use so it is recommended that you take Artemisinin for maybe 5 days then take a break for a few days. Then repeat.. 5 days on, 2 -3 days off. There is some debate as to whether you need to 'bait' the artemisinin with iron. Some researchers say yes, others say no. Our normal cells hold onto their iron quite well. One caution... there can be temporary swelling of the tumor(s) so this product should not be used for tumors in the brain, intestines etc... anywhere where the pressure or blockage could present a problem. Artemisinin is light and heat sensitive and most come in white plastic bottles. I always wrapped the bottle in aluminum foil and put the bottle in a small bank bag in a file drawer in my closet. I would leave out a few days dosage (in the nite stand drawer) at a time. Artemisinin has been being used to treat malaria in Southeast Asia successfully for a few years now. It is treated with real respect. It is a powerful herb. Just as malaria accummulates extraordinary amounts of iron, so to do cancer cells. Art seems to home into this excessive iron like a heat-seeking missile. It works by apoptosis (programmed cell death) rather than necrosis. It isn't considered a 'stand-alone' treatment tho. There is also a product called Ave-Ultra. It really kicks up the immune system, slowly dissolves the coating that cancer cells produce to 'hide' from your immune system 'killer' cells and... it interferes with glucose uptake by the cancer cells. It is pricey tho. The supplier must keep the product stored at less than 86 degrees and it should be shipped cold and it needs to be stored in your fridge after you get it (no freezing). It is also available from betterhealthinternational.com. They are located in Florida.. I am in Va. I was always concerned with the product getting heated up during transit and betterhealth would let me pay an additional 20.00 in shipping to get it overnighted instead of the free shipping for 2 day delivery. Plus, if I wanted additional products and they could fit in the shipment of Ave, they wouldn't charge me extra. I have no affiliation with the company. I am just a satisfied customer after some less than satisfactory experiences with other companies and their handling and shipping of Ave. There is no return of this product since it is temperature sensitive. It has had many clinical trials in Hungary where it was used as an adjunct with standard cancer treatments. Patients taking the Ave did terrific compared to those who did not receive Ave. It helped alleviate many of the side effects of chemo and helped keep the immune system strong. But it was a star at helping to prevent mets after treatment. It should be stirred into water and taken on an empty stomach and 4 - 6 hrs away from any Vit C. I always took it at night just before bed. I am a going-on eight years breast cancer survivor and only had surgery, refusing any chemo or radiation. I had a fortuitous 3 month window between dx and surgery when alternative supplements helped to alleviate many of my symptoms (sleeplessness, night sweats, dramatic weight loss, swollen, painful, tingly lymph nodes under my arm). I wouldn't recommend that anyone do what I did. Everyone needs to study and educate themselves and make their own decisions. Everyone is different and can respond differently.
