Galvanized roofing definitely sheds both dissolved zinc and
zinc oxide powder into the runoff. I worked at a factory,
where they had to evaluate all their runoff to see if it was
good enough to pass directly to the river. Every building
with galvanized roofing had to have its water collected and
treated, before it met the state requirements for water to
go to the river.
