Dee.. The fluoride as well as bromine, are just naturally occuring in Himalayan salt along with a whole host of other minerals. I loved Himalaya salt.. but for me... while consuming larger amts of iodine, it just made sense to avoid things with other halides in them. I was doing the sole?? is that what they call it? with the Himalayan salt so I was consuming more than normal. I still have a couple of large containers of the salt and, after another year or so on iodine, when I am pretty sure that iodine has taken up residence where it belongs (and thus, should keep the fluoride from taking up occupancy), I will probably go back to it. Trace minerals are needed in small amounts for health, and those found in Himalayan salt include boron, chromium, copper, fluoride, iodine, manganese, molybdenum, selenium and zinc. Other minerals in Himalayan salt include aluminum, carbon, platinum, selenium, sulfur and titanium.
