Pure silver in pure water does not need to be kept in the dark.
Silver Chloride..made by using salt in the brew.. does need to be kept in
the dark and SHOULD be..never to see the light of day, for-ever-more
unused. [Crap kept in a cabinet...or black trash bag in route to the dump]

Cold water has a lower saturation point than warm water, so cooling down a
saturated solution [simply put] will cause dropout. [Silver chunks on the
bottom, no longer in the water]
Unlike a sugar solution that will 'drop back in' [re-dissolve] when the
temperature goes back up, silver won't do that and stays dropped out.
