What you claim about Wikipedia has some merit, so the first thing to do when an article seems a bit controversial is to look to the bottom of the article for the references. In this Pamela Geller case, there are 146 of them. Some of them come from the New York Times, the Washington Post, and several other trusted news organizations throughout the civilized world that usually vet their published information quite thoroughly. So your statement that, "The problem is that wikipedia is not a reliable source when it comes to controversial issues,...", seems pretty hollow, based on the quality of the references listed for this Geller article.
