## Flat ribbon has better edge discharge characteristics as electricity tends to jump a gap from a sharp or pointed object more readily than from a rounded one. Round wire will tend to dicharge more towards the ends. Both will dissappear from the ends up because both have more edges on the ends but the ribbon will decrease in size along the sides faster than the wire making a v shape.
Time may be saved with flat ribbon but quality should be the same.
Ribbon is usually very thin/flimsy and hard to keep flat and parallel. [30 ga]
20 ga, or better, 14 to 16 ga ribbon would be very good for alligator clip applications and long lasting too.
I prefer #12 [12 ga] wire just because it's easy to deal with and attach in an integrated socket connector application and lasts a long time.

Here's a question I've been wondering about. Hopefully Ol' Bob and any
others who have tried and tested both could give their opinions/findings.
When making CS with a homemade generator (3-9v battery method), which
electrode yields a higher quality product, silver wires or flat strips of
silver?
Thanx, all input is appreciated.
