Hi Mikki, I don't know whether or not CS will help heal or prevent shingles, but am aware of a recent discovery that may be helpful.
Apparently at least some of the Herpes family of viruses, of which Varicella is a member are, affected by serum (blood) calcium levels. The theory is that if you can raise your blood calcium level and keep it stable the viruses are apparently inactivated. This supposedly will shorten the duration of an outbreak, and/or prevent it from occurring in the first place. The recommended way to do this is to eat Yogurt, at least once a day to prevent outbreaks and at least a couple of times a day during an outbreak. It's safe, relatively inexpensive, and good for you, too. If your father-in-law tries it, please let us know if it helps. I would certainly try CS as well, both internally and on the lesions. Perhaps some of the more experienced poster can recommend dosages and frequencise. Good Luck...
