Floaters: I didn't take the time to look up a technical definition but I can describe them for you. They are little specs in the peripheral area of your vision. They can also look like a small piece of thread. They are most noticeable when you shift your line of focus from one side to the other while keeping your head still. The specs will appear to be "catching up" with your point of focus after your eye has come to a stop. I believe they are supposed to be an early indication of a detached retina, but don't quote me on that. I'm sure you'll get a more knowledgeable and technically correct reply from someone else on the list.
