I strongly suggest that you do NOT delete Outlook Express without another
email processing program installed. Otherwise you will NOT be able to
process ANY email. I know I have seen some on this list advise that it be
deleted, but I have used it exclusively for email and have NEVER had any
virus problem that I could not handle with an installed and updated
anti-virus program. I have never contracted a virus although I have had some
sent and received. Also Microsoft has just issued a security update that may
address some of the issues discussed here.

What you must consider is that Outlook Express works seamlessly with
Internet Explorer and Windows. Updates for it, security and otherwise, are
offered free of charge from Microsoft as they are produced. The reason that
so many viruses are directed to it is its popularity which is a two edged
sword. Disabling the Windows Scripting Host will take care of most vbs based
virus problems. That, along with your Norton AntiVirus software, provided
that you keep it up to date, should solve most of your potential problems.

If I delete Outlook Express do I have to replace it with anything? What
does
it do? I don't think I've ever used it. I do have Norton AV 2000
installed.
