Yes, I have regularly used CS in my garden pond. I used to be plagued with
'Blanket weed' a dark green filement that chokes ponds.  I poured a pint of
CS into the water near the pump on two occasions. Result the pond is now
clear of algae and blanket weed, and you can see the bottom regardless of
all the sun's efforts to rebuild the algae.  Th fish are fine!
