Dear Bob, I make CS machines and zappers for a living here in Cape Town, South Africa. I would be very glad of any contacts you could give me.
My simple CS machine sells for R220 which is about US$30. A simple zapper is R200 and the popular two frequency version is R350 ie US$50. I would also be happy to supply kits for people to make their own. The South African postal system has cleaned up its act. I haven't lost anything locally in the last two years and the delivery is overnight anywhere within our borders. However that cannot be said for most of the rest of Africa. The experience is that nothing valuable arrives if sent by post. Parcels have to be sent by courier which is expensive. For example the CS machine weighs 300g, for which DHL charges R255 to Nairobi, Kenya, cleared and delivered to the door. Most people try to get a friend to pick it up in SA and bring in their luggage.
