Yes Nancy, It would be wise to back off a bit and see whether the symptoms recede, and then find a level of ingestion that he finds comfortable.
Sounds like an immune response or Herx reaction and the level that he took might have induced leucocytosis, a high production of white blood cells and attendant discomfort... did his temp rise? I should increase water intake.
