Hi everyone, Before we have any more copies of these Napster or Metallica Song viruses sent to the list and before anyone else attacks or insults Silvia or others who have accidentally brought them among us, I'm taking the list down for a few hours.
You won't be able to sub or unsub or send messages to the list. I'll try to trigger a digest so everybody understands what's going on, and I'll modify the "you can't post to the list" message as well. This will be as short an interruption as I can make it, while, first, I catch a little sleep, second, disinfect my own computer, and third, try to configure the list to reject executable attachments. While I am doing that, I would ask Silvia Jauchler, Tony Moody, Grant McKenzie, and anyone else whose machines have sent a message with "Unidentified Subject" to the list, to please attempt to clear the infection from your computer. A couple of sources for instructions have been posted today. Please visit the archives at the web address mentioned in the header below to retrieve the addresses of those sites. I'm sorry for the mess, everyone. We've all been victimized to one extent or another. Hopefully I'll be able to "harden" the list to prevent a recurrence of this kind of attack.
