Some alt. MD's believe that mental illness is caused initialy by 3 viruses-Epstein-Barr, Cytomega virus and HHV6. The spectum goes from ADD to Autism, depending on the part of the brain affected and the severity of the virus.When there is a food sensitivity, because the area of the brain is already weak, that particular area of the brain swells or has some type of negative reaction. This in turn, eventually creates acid hypoxia in the area and causes unnatural brain responses. There is a genetic factor also, because suseptible people do not have the enzyme in the bowel to process certain foods(usually milk or whole grains.) This falls in line with the vaccine theory which some say damages the bowel.-not my theory, just read about this. I have 5 friends, three close to me who have children diagnosed with autism.
