Dear Sir,
Our lab staff has, in the past, conducted
rather extensive evaluations of both MSM and DMSO. MSM is very effective as a
"stand-alone" penetrant....as is DMSO. However, only DMSO exhibits pronounced
transporting qualities for entrained compounds. e.g. While MSM is capable of
penetrating the mucosive layers covering epithelial tissues, it is not capable
of satisfactorily carrying mixed substances with it ---as a primary
transporter. MSM has shown---on occasion---to "dilute" the mucous interface to
a degree sufficient to allow various substances to advance across the
barrier...on their own merits. e.g. CS mixed with MSM and balanced fluid
electrolytes, is absorbed in the stomach area approximately 7 times as fast as
is plain water. Dilute DMSO is the pre-eminent (non-toxic) solvent-of-choice
for use in these matters (in our opinion). While DMSO does not affect the
molecular structure of dissolved substances, it does carry with it all entrained
solutions/substances. Deposition/absorption/impingement (of entrained
substances) appears to depend---in some measure--- upon the character and
structure of the "receiving tissue/structure". It does appear that DMSO ---in
some way---actually conditions the interface between itself and the recipient
tissue-field---affording special circumstances for effecting its unusual
qualities. Evaluations to confirm or disprove this have not been performed by
any of our staff, as such basic research is beyond our charter.
I hope this information is more enlightening....than confusing.
                                    Sincerely, Brooks Bradley.
