Look at the needles. White Pine are what I call either a 5 needle Pine or a 6 needle Pine. Pull off a clump of needles and count them where all the needles originate from a common point. Scotch Pine are 2 needle pines. 5 needle pines are called Western White Pines and 6 needles pines are called Southern White Pines.
My Indian friend actually wanted what she called a Silver Pine from Canada. I talked her in to using my White Pine roots. So we actually used something related to what she asked for.
