Mother Used Aspartame During Pregnancy >From Betty Martini <[email protected]> 12-6-00
Betty, I am 31 1/2 years old and changed to Diet Coke from Dr. Pepper a year ago to lose weight, which I did! However, since that time, I have suffered a severe clinical depression, worsening of my vision, and muscle/joint pain, and most alarming of all, memory loss! To make matters worse, during my pregnancy with my 9 year old, I consumed sugar free frozen yogurt (I craved it!) and he was born 4 months early, weighed 1 pound, nine ounces and now suffers from Cerebral Palsy and mental retardation. Until now, we all assumed that these were both due solely to premature birth. Now I wonder if he was born prematurely because I consumed Aspartame and if so, did the Aspartame cause all of this? I am outraged! I want to know, are there any class action law suits being filed at this time? More importantly, if I stop using the Aspartame products, can my good health be restored, or am I permanently damaged? Any information you could give would be very much appreciated! Regards, Lisa G. Jenkins ____________ Dear Lisa, First let me say my heart goes out to you. I feel as much outrage because you see the FDA knows aspartame triggers birth defects and don't even have the decency to put a warning on aspartame for pregnant women. Now they are being petitioned to even allow it unlabeled and I'll send you that post. The FDA are very aware of Dr. Diana Dow Edwards studies on birth defects. I asked them why they didn't accept that study and they even refuse to answer the question along with 25 others that went along with it. Also, Dr. Louis Elsas testified before Congress (Pediatric Professor, Emory University, Genetics) about aspartame being a teratogen and neurotoxin. Read it in its completion on www.dorway.com Be sure to read Aspartame Murders Infants by James Bowen, M.D. on www.dorway.com . It also goes into celebral palsy. As to depression, the phenylalanine in aspartame lowers the seizure threshold and depletes serotonin. Lowered serotonin triggers manic depression, panic attacks, anxiety, rage, mood swings, suicidal tendencies, etc. As to vision loss, the wood alcohol in aspartame converts to formaldehyde and then formic acid, even in the retina of the eye and destroys the optic nerve. Read What's Blinding the World on www.dorway.com Dr. Morgan Raiford who diagnosed many of those who went blind in the 80's did say if it was in the "wet stage" vision can return. As to joint pain, aspartame hardens the synovial fluids and causes this horrible joint pain. Now Searle (original manufacturer - Monsanto bought them in l985 and has since sold) has made Celebrex for this joint pain so they can make more money on the agony their product has caused the world. And Celebrex too is a very dangerous drug, in the first 13 weeks on the market 10 people died and other had gastrointestinal problems, etc. It also causes hemorrhaging and I've talked to several people who said their doctor took them off of it because of the side effects, mainly the bleeding and cardiac problems. Of course, if they are still using aspartame the drugs can interact because aspartame is a drug and not an additive as the FDA would have you believe. By law additives are suppose to be inert, and aspartame is about as inert or non-reactive as a forest fire! Incidently, aspartame is a very addictive drug and going along with what you said about craving it, on the last page of the protest of the National Soft Drink Association on www.dorway.com you will see a note about that. It says that aspartame actually makes you crave carbohydrates. It's not a diet product. Most people gain weight on aspartame. We have two support groups you can click on to from www.dorway.com and a detoxification page. Newton Labs has made an antidote and there is a 1 800 number. Also, about memory loss, aspartame is legend at causing it. In fact, note that memory loss is #11 on the FDA list of 92 documented symptoms triggered by aspartame. H. J. Roberts, M.D., has already declared Aspartame Disease a world plague and is about to publish his 800 page medical text on this world epidemic. You can write Jane Henney of the FDA about this recent news that the Yogurt Association wants the FDA to allow sweeteners in yogurt unlabeled. Should the FDA do this which is against the law they should be immediately indicted for malfeasance. The FDA approved aspartame even though the Board of Inquiry said it hadn't been proven safe and should not be approved. You can read the summation of this report on www.dorway.com After Dr. Arthur Hull Hayes did this he went to work for the PR firm of the manufacturer and refuses to talk to the press. Listen to Fox News expose on aspartame about a year ago on DORway if you have audio. He slammed the door in the face of Fox News and told them to go to the FDA. If you click on to the support groups you will be getting information I put on those lists. I do have a Mission Possible list but its one way, for case histories and new news. I will write you separately about attorneys and send you some recent emails that may interest you. Again, I am so sorry you weren't warned. I would give your OB doctor Dr. Roberts position paper on aspartame and pregnancy and small children and also Dr. Elsas testimony before Congress so he warn other mothers and save the lives and health of thousands of other babies. Because the FDA approved aspartame babies are being murdered in their mother's womb, or if they survive they can be mentally retarded or have birth defects. Jane Henney's email is [email protected] I'm also sending your case to the owner of a newspaper who is doing an article on this petition to allow unlabeled sweeteners in yogurt. Incidently, aspartame has been found to be in natural and artificial flavors as well as MSG, another excitotoxin you should avoid. (http://www.truthinlabeling.org) I would suggest reading Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills by neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, M.D., (amazon.com). He goes into the fact that aspartame triggers ADD and autism as well. And Dr. Roberts other books and tapes on aspartame you can get on www.sunsentpress.com Aspartame (NutraSweet) Is It Safe? by H. J. Roberts, M.D., Charles Press - you can get from amazon.com Let's keep in touch. On www.dorway.com/handouts.html are our warning flyers and I hope you will warn others. We are here to support you and care very much. All my best, Betty ============ Subj: INSPIRATION? The Story of Saint Chad Date: 12/3/00 7:46:47 AM Pacific Standard Time From: [email protected] (Christopher Ruby) To: [email protected] The Story of Saint Chad Here's something to wow your friends with at the bar or in church... Truth is stranger than fiction. While "chad" may be a new word in the American lexicon thanks to the wonderful folks in Palm Beach, Florida, there really IS a St. Chad and he's highly revered in many religious circles. But St. Chad's life story is especially fascinating when compared to today's dust-up over "chads" in the Sunshine State. Seems St. Chad was ordained in 653 A.D. ... and the big brou-ha-ha of the day was a dispute over whether to use the Celtic manner for calculating Easter, or the manner proscribed by the rest of the church, including Rome. Go figure. Hadn't they ever heard of prescription drugs for seniors? Geez. Anyway, the long and short of the story is that Chad (George W. Bush?) was ordained a bishop under some extraordinary circumstances (close vote in 2000 election?) during the absence of some monk dude named Wilfred (Al Gore?) who was busy inventing French fries or something in Paris at the time. Wilfred, a big-time muckity-muck (vice president?) in the calendar fury ... who believed Chad to be an opponent ... was not a happy camper when he returned home and discovered Chad had been ordained (elected?) as bishop in a diocese (state of Florida?) Wilfred believed was his. Hmmmm. But it gets better. Wilfred went to the Archbishop of Canterbury (Supreme Court?) and whined about Chad's ordination. Get this: Wilfred challenged the ordination based on THREE "serious flaws" (the vote count in those three Florida counties?) in the process. In response, Chad offered to vacate (concede?) the seat, but the Archbishop was so impressed with Chad's humility and willingness to do the right thing, that he ordained him anyway. It seems wholly appropriate, considering the circumstances, that the word "chad" should become so prominent in this year's election dispute. It's déjà vu all over again. The typical American household will pay a record $834 to heat its home with natural gas this winter, up 62 percent from last year. Consumers who use heating oil will also pay a record $1,044 for fuel to warm their homes this winter, up 38 percent from one year ago, the Energy Information Administration said. The EIA, a statistical agency within the Energy Department, said spot natural gas prices were at record highs based mainly on apprehension about tight supplies for this winter season. ``The low gas inventory situation, combined with fickle weather, has put the market in a very jittery position,'' the EIA said. ``Cold weather for prolonged periods this winter would strain supplies and could result in even higher spot prices.'' California has been experiencing sharper price rises than the rest of the country, exacerbating an already tight electricity supply situation. Chaos on the state's power grid was so precarious Tuesday evening that Gov. Gray Davis, at the annual Christmas tree lighting in Sacramento, switched the tree's lights off after just a few minutes to save energy. The start of Wednesday was no better when California power industry officials issued a Stage Two power emergency, cutting supplies to industrial customers due to a severe shortage of available electricity.'' It was the third consecutive power emergency in as many days, as the state's power plants -- many shut for repairs -- and power imports from other states barely kept up with demand. Stocks Down, Prices Up The government's warning of record consumer bills for natural gas this winter plus worries about a cold snap sent U.S. wholesale prices rocketing to new highs. Natural gas futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange closed up $1.101 at $8.485 per million British thermal units. Earlier in the day, prices hit a record high of $8.80 per Btu. The EIA projected U.S. natural gas supplies in storage would decline to 0.64 trillion cubic feet (tcf) at the end of first quarter 2001, about half as much supply when compared to same period of 2000. ``Spot gas prices at the (producer) wellhead have never been this high for such a sustained period of time,'' EIA said. ``Cold weather for prolonged periods this winter would strain supplies and could result in even higher spot prices.'' Tight supplies, however, have made it profitable for companies to step up drilling for natural gas, the government said. Based on recent U.S. drilling activity, there should be about 15,000 gas wells completed in 2000 and 2001, the highest level since 1985. California Facing Dire Condition California came dangerously close late Tuesday to the most severe alert -- a so-called Stage Three emergency which would trigger rotating blackouts of entire neighborhoods to prevent the collapse of the entire grid. A statewide Stage Three emergency has never been declared. The government noted the dire straits in California, saying high demand for natural gas-fired electricity, relatively cold weather and demand surges have sparked the latest round of emergencies. Energy Secretary Bill Richardson earlier this week ordered federal facilities in California to cut back on power and diverted power from the Glen Canyon dam in Arizona. Richardson has warned in the past that a lack of coordinated congressional action on revamping the nation's power sector, along with market conditions in the West and other regions, could lead to power shortage alerts. =========== WIRE:12/06/2000 23:07:00 ET Clinton: Pot Smoking Should Not Be Prison Offense LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - President Clinton, who tried to avoid the stigma of smoking marijuana by saying he never "inhaled," tells Rolling Stone magazine that people should not be jailed for using or selling small amounts of the drug. In an interview with the rock magazine released on Wednesday, Clinton was asked if he thought that "people should go to jail for using or even selling small amounts of marijuana?" Clinton, who raised eyebrows in the 1992 presidential primary campaign when he admitted trying the drug but adding he didn"t inhale, told the magazine, "I think that most small amounts of marijuana have been decriminalized in some places, and should be." He added, "We really need a reexamination of our entire policy on imprisonment. Some people deliberately hurt other people and they ought to be in jail because they can"t be trusted to be on the streets. Some people do things that are so serious that that they have to be put in jail to discourage other people from doing similar things. "But a lot of people are in prison because they have drug problems or alcohol problems and too many of them are getting out -- particularly out of state systems -- without treatment, without education, without skills, without serious efforts at job placement." The interview, to be published on Friday, only weeks before Clinton leaves office, was conducted during the presidential campaign and Clinton made a prediction that has not come true and may not come true -- that Vice President Al Gore would carry Florida. "Gore will win Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan. I always thought Gore would win Florida. We worked like crazy there for eight years. And we"ve done a lot for Florida and a lot with Florida -- and Joe Lieberman has helped a lot in Florida. So I think Gore will win." That matter is still in the courts even though Florida has certified Republican George W. Bush the winner. In the interview, Clinton also blamed his impeachment in the Monica Lewinsky scandal on the work of a right-wing Congress and said special prosecutor Kenneth Starr "did what he was paid to." He added, "The right wing was in control of the Congress and ... they thought they had a free shot to put a hit on me, and so they did. I don"t think it"s complicated." =================== 11th Circuit Court Denies Bush Appeal The Associated Press Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000; 2:45 p.m. EST ATLANTA ââ A federal appeals court refused Wednesday to throw out manual recounts completed in three Florida counties, rejecting an appeal filed by George W. Bush at the height of the recount controversy in the state's contested election. The court agreed with a district court ruling that held that Bush, as well as supporters in a second lawsuit, failed to prove they had been irreparably injured. Bush had sought a court order to stop the recounts, which were completed last month. "Because proof of irreparable injury is an indispensable prerequisite to a preliminary injunction, Plaintiffs are not entitled to a preliminary injunction at this time; and the district courts order must be affirmed," the judges ruled. But the judges emphasized that they had not ruled on the constitutional merits of Bush's argument and simply denied his request for an order stopping the recounts. Bush was ahead of Al Gore before the recounts and after, and has since been certified the winner of Florida's presidential election by 537 votes. ============= -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
