If you're someone prone to ear infection (some swimmers, for example), by all means use it as a preventative. The only problem I've run into is when there is so much wax buildup in the ear canal that the CS cannot get to the site of the infection. In this case I've mixed the CS with alcohol and used a heating pad to "dissolve" the wax. That combination worked great.
