I've been making CS regularly since May. How do I know when it is time to
use
new silver wires? My last batch cooked for 6 hours and didn't even turn
yellow. Does this mean I need new wires or that my silvergen is not working?

Chris....define regularly, please. once a week, once a month, etc. Also how
much are making at one time? a glass, a 16 oz.jar, a gallon container....?
Are you cleaning your wires with a scratch pad after each use? One set of
wires should be good for at least one hundred times of 8 hr usage.
I make one gallon at a time. It took me almost a year for the wires to be too
thin/narrow to be effective. A lot depends on the thickness of your wires
originally and how long you cut them.
For a gallon of distilled water it takes me about 7-8 hours for a golden
color....this is a light golden. I am at 7600 ft. elevation so things take a
little longer to "cook"! LOL Also I do NOT use any salt!
Do you have a little light on your generator? You should be able to tell
about your batteries strength by the brightness of the light bulb. I think I
changed batteries BEFORE I changed wires!
Hope this is of some help.
    love and peace
