Hi again Well, my 2 year old's leg is broken, which is what is causing all the pain. This time last year she broke it by falling off the bed, and she must have broke it about 3 weeks ago, but we were unaware of what was wrong with her. Because she cannot weight bear at all, her bones are very brittle. The break from last year must have snapped while she was in her standing frame.
2 questions - how can I get her to absorb calcium better? She is already on Magnesium and Calcium 2-1 ratio, and Vitamin C. What would be a good dose for a 2 year old? Anyone have any ideas? Also, do you think its safe to give her CS before and after surgery with metal pins being put in her legs? I hate the idea of metal being put in her body. My giving her 3mls of CS every 4 hours is causing alot of curiosity at the hospital. I don't want to over do the dose as it might give her diarrhoea, then they would not operate. As it is, (I am venting here) I AM SO MAD at the doctors. They came around this morning, and instead of operating straight away, have decided to give her morphine for 2 days instead. I haven't been able to catch up with them as they hide in theatre, but word must have it that I am on the warpath, as they re-scheduled surgery for tomorrow. They have needlessly put her through intense pain all day today, just because they thought it might be a good idea to wait for another doctor to come back on Christmas Day. She is on Morphine, Codeine, and Paracetamol, and I caught them in time before giving an anti-nausea drug as well. She isn't even being sick any more!. Imagine what all this is doing to her liver that doesn't function properly anyway. They don't know what is waiting for them tomorrow when I catch up with them. vent,vent,vent!!! Oh well Now that I have got that of my chest - thank you for listening, I know most of you LOVE doctors. Hey, I have been around hospitals probably more than most of you (unless you are a nurse or doctor), and I am very grateful for alot of what they have done. I just get this helpless feeling when they are stuffing my kid full of dangerous drugs. They cannot believe she has never had antibiotics - they are trying to remedy this in narcotics.
