Dear Steve,
I will, indeed, post the details you
request......probably the day after Christmas.
In response to your question relating to our
foundation, and activities, the following will give you a brief synopsis.
Interestingly, we get this request about once a year.....so the time is upon us
once again.
A majority of our staff is comprised of retired
professionals and academics....some of International class. No senior staff
members are financially compensated.....all contribute their services
willingly. This greatly increases the available
discretionary funds for individual grants to outside researchers which our board
wishes to assist.
I am an electrical engineer and Russian Studies scholar
(questionable capabilities) who spent the bulk of his active career (1949--1992)
in the Aerospace Engineering field (teaching and engineering simultaneously). I
enjoyed unusual success in both endeavors and upon retirement in Feb. 1992,
decided to enlarge our existing Foundation (together with the other principal
patron, Eric Harborne). I am the chief executive officer. We are a 501-c,
privately endowed, non-profit foundation. Our principal activities revolve
around Eco-system restoration/maintenance. Additionally, we have a small, but
dedicated group of (what I consider to be) International Class researchers
devoted to certain alternative-type medical researches. Our primary area of
research in the field has related to electro-medical devices, but is by no means
restricted to this area. As a general rule, we do not publish---or share
directly the result of our principal studies......excepting those cases where we
are involved in a joint effort with an outside collaborator. In these cases,
due to proprietary considerations, we NEVER share information with a third
party. We do, however, make every effort to leak into the mainstream (through
non-publicized means), the benefits of all measureably useful data/information
resulting from our research efforts (in the medical research field). We have
no such limitation on our Ecologically-Based activities and openly solicit
support from the media and environs to publicize our principal efforts. As a
matter of fact, I believe the Dallas Morning News is going to run a feature
article on our Black Tailed Prairie Dog restoration program at the (650 acre)
Dallas Nature Center) in the immediate future. I believe it is scheduled to be
in the Metro-Section this coming Saturday, Dec. 6, 2000. Time and space do not
permit me to outline all of our projects, but several relating to water
pollution, toxin abatements, and waste-water treatment for rural third-world
communities......are pets of mine. While the initial impression may be that we
are being selfish; I assure you such is not the case. We have, in the past,
experienced some unpleasant circumstances through governmental-type restrictions
on areas of research our Board of Directors deemed not to be their business.
Therefore, our present position that "We do not SOLICIT nor do we ACCEPT
outside contributions. While limiting the scope of some of our desirable
endeavors, this policy affords us the MAXIMUM freedom in conducting our research
activities.
Some years ago the board decided against having a web site.
Until a majority feels differently, such will not be the case. I am aware there
are many on the Silver-List who would enjoy---and posssibly benefit from such,
and maybe conditions more favorable to their agreement will appear soon.
The postings I make to this list are the nonprofessional
condensate of some of the more mundane efforts of our more junior staff
members. Much of which is conducted as a personal indulgence to me.
While this diatribe is, principally, the incoherent ramblings of
a senile geriatric.....it is at least an attempt to give a rational response to
your question.
I wish all on the list the Warmest of Holiday Greetings and
may the Winds of Love and Harmony carry each over the Chosen Lands of Your
Heart's Desire in all of the coming years.
Sincerely, Brooks Bradley.
