List: FYI

At http://www.ncahf.org/pp/herbal.html

it says, "A well-established system for reporting the adverse effects of
standard drugs exists, and the FDA receives 80% of suspected adverse
reactions reports from ethical pharmaceutical manufacturers. "

I've just spent a year on a government working group advising on medical
error and the very best reference I can find is that about 1% of adverse
reactions to drugs get reported. In both Australia and New Zealand less than
0.6 of 1% of deaths associated with medical error are reported and next to
0% of drug related deaths.

Can you provide the evidence to back up the inference that drug companies
are 'ethical' when it comes to reporting adverse reactions -- I'm not aware
of any.

Also, in none of the studies of medical error and drugs adverse
reactions/deaths have concern about dietary supplements been expressed. Dr
Lucian Leape has acknowledged this in personal correspondence.

Can you please tell me where the bodies are? Over a million Americans have
been killed by properly used 'ethical' drugs in the past decade -- a few
handful at most have been killed by dietary supplements -- Why the gross
disparity? Simple -- relatively speaking, dietary supplements are safe when
used according to instructions.
