The idea is to limit the current by dropping the voltage. You can start with 4 batteries to more quickly overcome the initial resistance of distilled water. Remove one battery in 10 or 15 minutes and remove another battery every 10 or 15 minutes till you only have one at the end or even go in steps using 1.5 volt batteries. Stir every time you remove a battery and you will basically have a primitive current controlled [with stir] generator that could possibly produce very fine and clear CS at up to 30 PPM. Some electronics and a motor takes to work out of it. Trem and I offer such a generator based on Ole Bobs design and they work quite well. Ken
