Err, Bill, and all,

For the sake of the integrity of the list, can we please stop
*complaining* about what other people are doing? Squawk at me and let
*me* deal with it.

I would expect that if the "Healer-Treated Samples..." thread persists
for more than another *small* handful of messages, that the
participants will subscribe to [email protected] by
sending a message to [email protected]
and continue the discussion over there.

Now, I hope we won't see another 10 or 20 posts debating whether the
topic should have been brought up, how much a spoilsport Bill is, how
wonderful it is that we have such far ranging discussion, and why
there's too much noise and it hurts the list's usefulness... ad
nauseum.

And don't forget that the thread will keep picking up a few more
comments until everybody has caught up with their mail, so don't sweat
it if it doesn't die out immediately.

Now, don't anybody take this as license to bring up an endless stream
of "Oh that's interesting, I'll post it to the silver list!" topics
'cause "Mike sez it's okay!!" What I want to leave the door open for
are the questions from people needing help, which *may* result in
useful answers that are not strictly on-topic.

I just don't intend to squawk over every OT message somebody decides to
send to the list. The *responsible* reaction from the rest of you is to
ignore it if you're not interested, respond if you feel you must, then
take it off-list as soon as you're inclined to make your 2nd or
certainly 3rd contribution to the thread.

If you feel something's getting out of hand, then contact me and let
me know. I may not be paying close enough attention -- or I might
already be dealing with it in quietly, off-list.

We all know that the list is never going to be perfect. Experience
shows there *has* to be an off-topic component to the list to keep it
healthy. It is only in the extremes of my neglect or members' abuse
that the list degenerates.

Turn in your list-cop badge, Bill! <flogging him with wet noodle>
