I don't follow you here, Stuart. I think it is a valid experiment.
As soon as one swallows the saliva/cs mixture, it IS going to be
exposed to HCl. I, for one, am interested in trying this myself. You
state "Might I remind you that in proposing my ammonia hypothesis, I pointed out
that common fasting values of salivary ammonia are 10mg/100ml (100mg/L =
100ppm) (Ref. Documenta Geigy Scientific Tables). This is more than enough
to liberate and render any silver ions soluble from complexion with
chloride, even in the case of colloidal silver made with salt, as has been
(needlessly) frowned upon by many on the list (provided it is freshly
made).". If this is the case, then I certainly shouldn't see any
evidence of silver chloride being formed, correct?

I will not eat for roughly 17 hours or so. I will use the same cs from
the same container. In one beaker I will place pure cs, and label it
"A". In another, I will place roughly the same amount, but I will
first place it in my mouth and swish it around for 3 minutes.
Immediately after spitting it into beaker "B", I will add a few drops
of saturated saline solution to both beakers. I will then observe for
the formation of silver chloride.

While I certainly don't want to get into a pissing contest, I would
appreciate any comments, or constructive criticism, on the above
proposed experiment.
