I reverse the polarity by moving the alligator clip that was on the "anode"
coin to the "cathode" coin and vice versa. It is not absolutely necessary
to do this. Over time, even using this low a current density, a collection
of silver particles will form "dendrites" (tree like) at the coin connected
to the - negative terminal of your power source. By reversing the polarity,
the cathode coin becomes the anode and starts giving up silver particles to
the solution. Whenever I have tried stirring, I can detect large particles
in the finished product, even after filtering. These are revealed as
"sparklies" when viewing the solution with a laser pointer.
Why do I use the Silver Maple Leaf Coins? The Royal Canadian Mint
certifies them as being .9999. I like to know what it is that I am putting
into my body orifices.

Regards,

Arnold

current to 400 microamps. I switch the polarity back and forth whenever I
can remember. It takes a week using this method but I end up with a gallon
of very good CS.

the silver wire be attached to the wires that come from the power supply,
long enough to be well out of harms way?
