Date: 6/19/01 5:34:24 AM EST From: [email protected] (Ode Coyote) Reply-to: [email protected] To: [email protected] I take about 3 oz a day and caught a cold as well...one right after the other. But, they were the only colds I've had in 3 years and neither lasted very long or was very severe. The first was worse than the second, perhaps because I guzzled about 20oz per day of CS on the second cold and not the first. That's not proof of anything. How would I know what diseases I "didn't" get or how long they would have lasted without CS? It does show that CS isn't 100% as a preventative. It may show that the replication rate of bugs can be higher than the kill rate of low dose CS. Ken >>
Ken: One of the things I've been thinking about is the body's tendency to generate mucous during and at the beginning of a cold, and how THAT mucous may inhibit both contact with the infection, and/or absorption into the bloodstream. One idea I came up with is to use, for example, a nasal decongestant during such a period, so that a nebulized CS can be absorbed more effectively. Comments?
