Ivan: I had a bet with myself that you were going to say that. I won. I think. Let's face it, language was definitely not developed by scientists. On second thought, thank God! If it had, we would still be quibbling over which vowel system to use. Philosophical question: How does one "quibble" about a language structure without a language structure?
