Frank and Roger; The formation of the NO3 has been a source of concern as how to eliminate it.
When I presented the problem to a reaseach chemist that I know, he reminded me that it almost impossible to get the dissolved air out of water. I never start the process until the free board space is full of CO2 (it extinguishes a lighted match) and there is a constant flow of CO2 into the covered chamber. I do not stir the DW as I want the top 1" to get to about 140 to 160 deg. F. so that it will not hold much CO2 gas. The cooler the DW the more CO2 it will hold. Roger, you may want to share the latest CS test that I have done for you today with Frank in light of Frank's post.
