Roger Actually, unless you die of physical trauma, infectious disease is what kills us ALL! For anyone who thinks this isn't so, I refer you to the article below. It is a MUST READ for everyone!! http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/99feb/germs.htm After reading this article for the first time back in 1999, I did some searching. I found that even the Centers for Disease Control ADMIT that "certain" cancers are caused by a virus. I personally feel that they mostly all probably are. I read somewhere else (one of the big medical research college's website... can't remember which one) that they now know of 85 different types of cancer caused by virii. And how about the good old Simian 40 virus (sv-40) that was in the polio vaccine. While previously they only admitted that it was in the vaccine up until about 1961, if you research it you will find that it might have been in there until about 1974. But, this is only the tip of the iceburg. Heart disease is now being linked with bacteria. Yep. That includes coronary artery disease. Plaques on the arterial wall are now thought to be places where your body is trying to cover over damage caused by bacteria. Add into this mix the heliobacter that cause ulcers, and you are starting to see a trend develop. While the above mentioned article deals with Darwinian evolution, which I personally see as utter nonsense when it comes to the human species, it IS observable in bacteria and virii. Actually, I personally prefer the term "adaptation" to "evolution". After all, a lot of animals can be removed from their native environment, and adapt to their new surroundings. At least to some degree. So, as Roger states, we DO need sound research to improve the effectiveness of CS. Our very lives depend on it.
