Hi Art,

Certainly.... we routinely have CS tested by a lab using atomic absorption and
we then compare those results to PWT readings. I might also add that we use 3
PWT's to make sure they all are in the same ballpark. We get very repeatable
results with the meters. Please note that a correction factor has to be
applied to the final reading but that is also a constant. Of course a caveat
is that we test CS made with our generators. Not sure how they will read on
other CS but most CS is around 80-90% ionic so the meter should read in the
general range closely enough for most folks.

All in all, they are a fine piece of equipment for the average person to use in
checking CS no matter what anyone else says. Not trying to be argumentative
with Ole Bob but he's a bit too condemning of the PWT in my mind. And of
course the price is right for what you get.

Trem, not trying to start trouble, but Ole Bob is not a big fan of the
  hanna ppm tester.
Can you offer a defense of why the layperson would find the tester
"good enough" to use as a guage?
I realize that everythng has a purpose and limit, so I'm not looking
for a sophisticated appliance if a simple thing will get the job
  done......
