GERD stands for Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease; in that the stomach contents[highly acidic] leak past a weakened Pyloric valve into the Esophagus.This causes a burning sensation commonly known as Heartburn/Indigestion.If this is prolonged it will lead to scarring of the tissues resulting in "Barretts'" Esophagus/Syndrome,which can lead to Lymphoma[cancer] of which there are two types;one which is curable,but, the other can be fatal.A radical change of diet is indicated in most cases.
