Another possibility is that summer is conducive to soda pop and not beans.

Perhaps CS has indeed killed the bacteria needed to manufacture Hydrogen Sulphide.
Perhaps the importance of bacteria to digestion has been over rated and enzymes and acid do the job in a sufficient manner.
