In case it's not already obvious, I request we retire the thread about
"their" and "PC" and feminism, etcetera.

Sheesh! What a sad argument! No, the issues being raised are not
silly in themselves, but to let it escalate to the point where people
are feeling insulted, defensive, or abused, and dragging politics in,
to boot... Oh my! <shaking head>

Every day we intereact with people we don't agree with, or who use
language incorrectly. Seldom do we raise the issue, in the interest of
getting along and not hurting their feelings. Let's do the same here in
e-mail.

So, please...

1) Only correct grammar or spelling privately, if at all. (Which
implies that you know *how* to send a private reply!)

2) Refrain from throwing around political labels -- politically
correct/incorrect, radical feminist, etc.

3) Treat people here as if you care about their feelings, even if
maybe you don't.

And, yes, please format your text so it is legible and clear. And if
it doesn't come through the way you meant to send it, try to learn
from your mistakes.

However, *do* learn how to send text-only e-mail if you can. There's
seldom anything we say that *needs* fancy fonts and formatting enough
to justify the bandwidth bloat. And there are so many different
platforms and programs that compatibility is a long way off, still.

Lastly, understand that it'll take another day for the thread to die
out as folks get caught up with their e-mail and finally see this
message. So don't jump on anybody?

I'd have called it sooner, folks, but, c'mon, I spent yesterday at the
zoo with my family. A good time was had by all, but there was no time
to read e-mail. So let's be good to each other, okay?

A CS usage anecdote from me to follow in another post...

Be well,
