I don't know what the specific construction of the towers was, but
typically, small gauge steel studs covered by 1/2 inch sheet rock are used
to partition steel structures in the USA.  Sheet rock is a fair fire
barrier and is used as such in residential wood buildings to prevent fire
from going between floors [fire block] but is easily torn apart.
