Hello! 1. You can't use mice for ANY kind of decent research with Vitamin C.
Man has a genetic defect, so that he does not produce Vitamin C internally. This trait is shared by higher primates, and the guinea pig. Almost NO other mammals have this defect, and internally produce Vitamin C in large quantity; roughly 10 grams per 140 pound body weight PER DAY (this is from memory, so may be off slightly). If you are going to do Vitamin C reseach with animals, you need to use guinea pigs, and not mice. Mouse research wil NOT give you any kind of useful results with Vitamin C in regards to humans; as they produce large quantities of Vitamin C internally, and humans do not. 2. The "research" showing unhealthy thickening of arterties due to Vitamin C, has been proven to be bogus. For more detail check out the Life Extension Foundation site: www.lef.org Vitamin C PROMOTES heathly arteries, as shown in NUMEROUS studies. 3. There are THOUSANDS of studies on Vitamin C done by researchers having nothing to do with Linus Pauling. Even if EVERYTHING that Linus Pauling said about Vitamin C is a lie (which you are in essence basing on the word of one man), it does NOT invalidate ALL this other research. 4. Over the years, the general concensus on cold research with Vitamin C is that, if you use enough, quick enough, it generally shows that the severity, and length of the illness is lessened about 30% from doing nothing. 5. After reading HUNDREDS of books on nutrition, I have NEVER seen research indicating that Vitamin C INCREASED the risk of cancer! Indeed, if this were the case, virtually all animals that produced their own Vitamin C, should be riddled with cancer! Sorry I don't have more time for an in depth reply. I work 80 hour weeks, so can not personally reply to e-mails about this. Karl Kristianson -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
