Bill, This is just to reiterate and clarify the cost comparison I did earlier, regarding the optimized and the concentrated types of CS. The way I did this calculation is as follows. Firstly, on several occasions I've noticed that people on the list say that about double of the 'inferior' CS is required, by comparison with the optimized CS.
1. For optimized CS, per 2 oz. dose: One 2oz. dose x $20 per 8 ozs = $5.00 per 2 oz. dose 2. For concentrated CS, per 4 oz. dose (based on the Mexican product, Microdyn, in 15ml. bottles) One 4 oz dose x 28.375ml. per ounce = 113.5ml. 15 ml. x (3200ppm / 10ppm) = 4800ml. of 10ppm CS (diluted from the concentrated CS) 4800 ml. / 113.5 ml. = 42.3 doses For Microdyn the 15ml. bottle costs the peso equivalent of $1.00. $1.00 per 42.3 doses (of 4 ozs. each) = $0.024, ie. 2.4 cents per 4 oz. dose. If you find any of my calculations objectionable I would appreciate your telling me. Otherwise I can only come to the friendly conclusion that your approach to this subject is highly presumptuous. It is preposterous to imagine that you would eliminate from the list those people who would promote the low cost option. The vast majority of people in need could never dream of paying the $5.00 for optimized CS. Those who can do so are very fortunate indeed.
