Bess,

I just purchased a PWT meter made by Hanna Inst.  Seems to work very well.  From my understanding it measures dissolved solids in PPM up to 100PPM in 10ths.  It has +/- 2% accuracy.  The unit does not measure CS specifically, but if you take an initial reading of your distilled or deionized water then take one after CS is made and subtract your initial reading from the latter the outcome will be PPM Dissolved solids created from the CS process.  For example.  I started with 1.3 PPM distilled water and ended up with a 7.6 reading, my final outcome is 6.3PPM.  This 6.3PPM, in an ideal world, is CS....In reality there may be some other byproducts in this reading, silver nitrates or chloride or other stuff depending on the purity of silver used and very importantly the purity of water.  It is my understanding that you should only use water that measures 1ppm or less for the production of CS.

I purchased this unit from Sunstone Herbals for a good price.  I do not have any connection whatsoever to Sunstone.  I had a good experience w/the purchase and am taking this opportunity to send some business back his way.  Ask for James Allison.  1-800-207-2024.  http://www.sunstoneherbals.com.  They have a competitive price on the unit as well.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

Dan
