As to annoyance, I'll jump in now to suggest it's because there is an implied link to effectiveness that is not yet supported adequately, nor the suggestion that the "infinite surface area" of ionic isn't as good in some instances, nor that particles are unchanged in vivo, ad infinitum... Substituting something like the following statement for the final paranthetical remark in Frank's message... " There is not yet a consensus that this implies increased effectiveness in vivo, but that is my belief." ... would render his statement diplomatically safe, would it not?
