Instead of bashing maple leaf dollars with hammer and anvil, why not just visit your local jeweller. Mine quite happily obtained for me, at cost, fine silver (9999) 1mm thick plate, cut to whatever size I wanted, and nicely finished with protective plastic film on both sides to boot. Two sheets 200mm X 40mm X1mm came to $106 AU (~ $53 US) for 80gm.
