Generally, the 'fluff' is a pure silver structure formed and solidified around hydrogen bubbles if it's gray and silver oxide if it's black. Neither are harmful. Much of the gray stuff even tends to dissolve in a white mist and some of it makes a white deposit that sticks to the bottom, if left alone, as the hydrogen bubbles self destruct. Ken
