Germany's Bayer AG, maker of Cipro, the most prominent antibiotic for
treating anthrax, announced it had agreed to supply the U.S. government with
up to 300 million doses at the reduced rate of 95 cents apiece. Drugmaker
Pfizer said it was also in talks with the government about antibiotics.

Twelve people have been confirmed infected with anthrax, three of whom died
from the inhaled form. Two more Washington postal workers were seriously ill
in a hospital with inhalation anthrax and others were treated for suspected
anthrax.
