Silver particles will absorb light depending on the size of the particle. The smallest particles of silver, ions, absorb the shortest wavelengths, and the largest particles absorb the longest wavelengths. Ions absorb UV light, resulting in a clear liquid with no tyndall, small CS particles will also absorb in the UV range resulting in a clear liquid with little tyndall. As the particles grow larger they absorb in longer and longer wavelengths, in the order of the color wheel. I.E. violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, infrared. The resulting color is the complement of what is absorbed so as the particles get larger the resulting color goes from clear to yellow, orange, red, violet, blue, green then clear again. Most of us consider only the clear and light yellow as having small enough particles for good absorption, effectiveness and stability.
