OK, Ivan, I stand corrected. My Selby's Periodic Table of the Elements listed 
silver as having only +1 as valence, but upon checking the Encyclopaedia 
Britannica, it appears that +2 and rarely, +3 valence states do occur. However 
the likelihood of any significant quantities other than +1 valence in CS 
solutions seems extremely remote. Hence Beck's claim is still out of place, I 
believe.
