Hi -

I am of the same understanding as Marshalee about the connection between iron and heart attacks. If a person donates blood, they reduce the amount of iron in the system. There have been studies that show that post-menopausal women and men who donate blood regularly have a lower risk of heart attack. This was on television, so I don'thave internet sources to cite. The young researcher who developed this theory was resoundingly mocked (par for the course) but his theories have proven to have merit.
